We found Nicola Garvey through recommendation from a man in Killybegs Tourist Information Centre. He said she really knew the area and we found this to be the case. Nicola filled us in on many social and economic aspects as well as sharing the historical and geographical information. She’d thought about what we said we were interested in and did her best to tailor the time to suit our interests. Nicola was also completely straightforward about the financial side, something we respected.

We really liked Nicola as a person and the fact that she truly loved the area she was showing us. The tour was not pressured. We were allowed time to take things in.

The vehicle is very comfortable.

Thanks again for spreading your wealth of information amongst my clan. A memorable tour.

Best - Scott Dougherty

Dear Nicola,

Your tour was truly a highlight of our trip.  You couldn't have been friendlier.  Your knowledge of the area made us feel like we knew Killybeggs from a local point of view.  If we are ever back in your beautiful area we will definitely use you again

I know you took some pictures of us that day and would love if you could share them with me.

Warm regards - Leslie Rooks Sack

Hi Nicola,

So sorry it took so long to contact you and thank you for rescuing us!  We didn’t give you much notice, but you took charge and showed us a grand time!  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

The difference between an ordinary tour and an unforgettable experience relies on the qualities of a good tour guide like you.

Your enthusiasm and passion about Donegal made our day especially fun.  You shared your knowledge, in particular, knowledge of the Celtic Cross, in an engaging, interactive and entertaining way.

Your communication and people skills were evident and you knew how to listen to us.  Sometimes there can be a bit of social awkwardness when a group of strangers show up, but you broke that immediately with your personal touch.  You made us feel comfortable.

You also have a good sense of humor, which in our experiences is one of the strongest weapons in a guide's armory.

Although a sense of honor is important, so are the leadership skills that you possess!  Also, appreciated your punctuality and sensitivity to our needs and what we wanted to see and do.

You can be assured that we will definitely contact you again if we are in Donegal and will also recommend you to our family and friends. Wish you the best!

Warm regards - Lynn Boyle Willems & Kathy Boyle Shew

Nicola,

Thanks again for giving Sophie and I an experience we will always remember. I have posted a review on tour advisor for you. I hope that this review brings you more clients. Take care and we hope our paths cross again in the future.

Over a year ago my wife and I planned a trip to Ireland. We booked a wonderful tour but there was a part that of the country that was not included, County Donegal. We spoke to our travel agent about seeing County Donegal and she called around. That’s how we found out about Turas Cartha. Nicola met us at the County Donegal airport and we headed off to our hotel in Dunfanaghy. She asked us what do we want to see. Prior to starting our journey we researched the area and the Wild Atlantic Way was stated as a destination to see. She asked us what else would we like to see. We were open to everything, show us your Ireland. Nicola’s knowledge of the area comes from County Donegal is her home. She showed us some of the most beautiful places in Ireland which included the Sliabh Liag Cliffs, Killybegs, Studio Donegal (textile factory), and other areas. We will be forever grateful meeting her and highly recommend her. When we return to Ireland we will definitely use Turas Cartha again. If you’re looking for an area of Ireland and not the typical tourist destination contact Nicola and see her portion of Ireland, you won’t regret it.

Attention cruisers and visitors to Donegal. If you want a real experience - and at a great price - drop a note to Nicola Garvey. She will tailor an excursion to your liking and provide you with real insights to this beautiful part of the world. Highly recommend her - John Hagerty

"This was a beautiful walk through Kilcar and surrounding area. We would never have found or understood the significance of St. Cartha's old church or the old road to Sliabh Liag without Nicola as guide. Highly recommend this walking tour for anyone who loves to walk and see more deeply into a place."

Nicola's research on our family was spot on and she took us to area that my GG grandparents rented and lived. It was neat seeing the ruins of the old buildings on the property. Buildings that they may have once lived. Dan Christioph
